Step 1

Carefully select and aseptically prepare the site.

Step 2

Remove the needle cover and make sure the needle and the catheter tip are properly aligned.

Step 3

Perform arterial puncture.

Step 4

Observe blood response in the flashback chamber.

Step 5

Lower the insertion angle, advance 1-2 mm along the artery and ensure the catheter tip is in the artery by second flashback (blood response) along the catheter length. Continue to advance the catheter, simultaneously start to withdraw the needle.

Step 6

Advance further, hold the catheter hub for stabilization and withdraw the needle completely. Push the flow switch forward to close and control blood flow. Always pull the needle straight back. Confirm safety clip activation.

Step 7

Discard the needle in an approved sharps container.

Step 8

Connect an extension line with a Luer connection.

Step 9

Open the flow switch and flush the catheter according to local protocol.

Step 10

Close the flow switch and cover the insertion site with a sterile dressing.
